Inkwell

The depths of Valéa.

  1. Geography: A northern country with the most amount of rainfall a year. Rocky soil, dark marshes, temperate valéan rainforests, most of where people live is on the peninsula which is in the salty Eel Bay (named after a person, not eels.)

  2. Monarchy/Government: Republic, each on of the six providences (and one leader for the capital city of Ruem,) elect a main leader and the leaders make large decisions for the country. The leader of Ruem kind of acts as the head person, but there is technically no prime minister or president.

  3. Politics: Inkwell is a part of the Northern Regions/Northern Alliance and uses more advanced technology, which goes against the Vernlaw code. (Some quick examples of such technology, LED or Neon light systems, hydropower, trains, and specialized glass.) They are generally a neutral state on international affairs, but because of their alliance with Metrova they often will back them up in conflict.

  4. Capital city: Ruem (Roo-ehm). Located in southern Inkwell on the Eel Bay, it is a hub for trade and modern music and art. Is considered the only "safe" northern city for those from the Southern Alliance nations. (This is not inherently factual, but Ruem is home to a lot of foreigners from all over Valéa.) Ruem is also a port city, the temporary resting place for lots of sailors from any corner of the continent and beyond.

  5. Languages: The main languages are (in order) Valéan English/Valosch, Herric, and Gelyon. (And other smaller languages and dialects.) Nearly 90% of the population speaks Valosch to some degree- hence the english sounding name of "Inkwell," while almost 85% speak Herric. (Herric being the most spoken language on Valéa.) Both Valosch and Herric are taught in schools, with most classes being spoken in Valosch.
